Who We Are

The mission of Brain Injury Solutions (BIS) is to help children and adults living with brain injury improve the quality of their lives and reintegrate into family and community. BIS' core values include Person-Centered, Partnership, Integrity, Care and Compassion, and Respect.  The agency was originally established in November of 2000 by Fran and Greg Rooker, of the Jason Foundation, as Brain Injury Services of SWVA.  Original services were modeled after Brain Injury Services, Inc, in Fairfax VA; they had a previously established and long-running set of services for brain injury survivors in NoVA.

In August 2023, the agency underwent a rebranding and became Brain Injury Solutions; the new name more appropriately reflects the overall purpose and intent of the agency.  BIS provides community-based case management services to brain injury survivors and their families. BIS has also established Community Living Connection (CLiC), a telehealth program that provides education, social, and cognitive programs to survivors. Additionally, BIS offers Community Support Specialist Services, a one-on-one program with a focus on helping survivors regain functional skills, and Providing a Link for Survivors (PALS) as a social program, designed to link survivors and volunteers.

Congratulations to BIS on 20+ years of service to Southwest Virginia! Our current service area covers almost 16,000 square miles of Virginia, including Roanoke, Alleghany Highlands, New River Valley areas, all of southwest Virginia, plus areas of central and Southside.

What We Do

Brain Injury Solutions provides community-based case management and other supportive services to brain injury survivors, their families, and other community organizations throughout Roanoke, New River Valleys, Alleghany Highlands, Southwest Virginia and, most recently, into parts of central and Southside Virginia.
