Who We Are

Uplift Appalachia is a Christian nonprofit that provides education, training, consulting, and connecting to churches and organizations, motivating and equipping them to love and serve those living with addictions, mental health, and other life challenges on their journey to flourishing. We help churches find applied ministries such as giving rides, holding recovery meetings, and mentoring.

What We Do

Uplift Appalachia is trying to to find and equip volunteers from churches around the area to provide the rides to job training for people in recovery from substance addictions. We have funding from First Tennessee Development District’s (FTDD’s) Caring Workplaces Program to provide transportation for men in recovery who live in Recovery Resources sober living houses to attend training provided by TCAT (the Tennessee College of Applied Technology). This training will help men in recovery from addiction to substances find jobs. We have seen how just riding in the car with someone has helped them get better. By riding together and getting to know the drivers, these men can connect to a caring supportive Christian community. All of the men are chosen for this program and are closely monitored by Recovery Resources. They have frequent drug testing, strict guidelines, and close supervision. We have been driving them for several weeks and all are friendly and motivated in their recovery. We have video and written training materials and we will be happy to have someone ride with drivers at first until they are comfortable.
