Who We Are
We serve the city of Kingsport area providing meals to those that are unable to prepare themselves a hot meal daily. In 1972, three Kingsport women approached churches and other community groups to generate interest in coordinating a program to cook and deliver meals to impaired Kingsport residents. At first, meals were delivered only twice a week. Today, over 220 are prepared each weekday.
What We Do
Provide meals to isolated, incapacitated senior citizens or other disabled persons. We utilize 500 volunteers weekly and are in constant need of cooks as well as volunteer drivers. Cook teams typically spend about 3 hours on their assigned day to prepare the 100-140 meals. The teams typically begin their work around 8 AM and usually volunteer at least once monthly. Volunteer drivers generally pick up meals at 10:30 AM and complete their routes in 1 to 1/2 hours.
