Volunteers will get in the dirt - digging holes, doing minor hand grading, planting trees and livestakes and spreading mulch, straw and grass seed. Volunteer Tennessee Stream Team members receive:Intensive education and training from professional bio-engineering and conservation experts with University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Appalachian RC&D and other natural resource agenciesBranded outdoor clothing and other SWAGMileage reimbursement for travel costs to and from work sitesInvitations to fun social events (paid for by generous private donors) with other Team members and Partners where we celebrate successes and lessons learnedSnacks and beverages on the day of work events Work days will take place approximately once per month over the next year (and possibly longer) as part of our post-Helene river recovery efforts. The Appalachian ARC&D and our Partners will offer training, tools, equipment and coordinate all logistics.
