ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with Communications Leadership to identify and carry out ways to tell the Red Cross story visuallyTake photos and/or video at events, trainings and disasters in accordance with Red Cross brand standardsCapture portraits, candid and/or studio shots to tell the Red Cross story of service deliveryCull, edit, caption and upload your photos/video to online sharing accounts; share select photos in a timely manner (typically same day or within 24 hours) with chapter/regional communications leadership and the social media teamShare photos/video on social media, when appropriateCoordinate with chapter social media leads to share your team's videos and photos on social media or Red Cross sites.Treat all clients, volunteers and partners with dignity and respect - always obtaining required photo releases.Organize and deliver photo/video documentation, captions, quotes and photo releases.

 

During Disasters:

Work with communications team to identify daily priorities to share visual story.Deploy to the scene to seek out opportunities for photos/videosTime Commitment

Typically, 12-16 hours per month - flexible and dependent on individual projects and local disaster responses. May be 4-8 hours per day during disasters.

Responsibilities include: 

Fleet clean up 1 x per month (exterior and windows), interior (quarterly or as needed)Set up for blood drives at the chapter 1-2 days per month and a walk through of the office to ensure facilities are in good working order.Other activities may pop up from time to time.Must be 18 or older, have a valid driver license and clear motor vehicle record, some maintenance skills and ability to climb ladder.Must apply online at www.redcross.org/volunteer

The American Red Cross is looking for disaster dispatchers in the Northeast Tennessee (such as: Sullivan, Washington, Johnson or Carter) area. 

Whether you choose to volunteer virtually or at our chapter office during the workday, your contribution will be invaluable in helping us provide vital assistance to those affected by disasters. As part of our screening process, you'll be required to create an email login and consent to a criminal background check focusing on theft and violence.

Join the Red Cross volunteer team to help communities during disasters such as: Home Fires, Tornadoes or Flooding.

Works as part of an assigned team to respond to local disasters within two hours. Delivers immediate direct client assistance in accordance with Red Cross standards and procedures. Works with on-scene lead to assess whether additional resources/support are required and communicates those needs to DAT Leadership. Attends regularly scheduled team/DAT meetings as required by Chapter/Region. Commits to being available during assigned shifts and communicate scheduling conflicts with DAT Leadership.

Every day, people are forced from their home due to fires, storms or other disasters. You will work as part of an assigned team to provide immediate support and assistance to individuals and families who have been impacted by a home fire or other local disaster. Training is free, but the hope you bring is priceless.

Here's what you'll do:

Provide comfort and support to people who have been displaced from their homes during disasters Assist with various tasks at the shelter including welcoming guests, registration, serving meals and providing information/resources Receive free online training to prepare you for the role

Qualifications:

Must be willing and able to volunteer in-person at disaster shelters before, during and/or after a disaster Capable of meeting physical requirements such as lifting 20 pounds, sitting or standing for 2-hour periods, walking 2 miles during a shift and climbing stairs For local disasters, commit to multiple shifts lasting 4-12 hours each. If you choose to work disasters outside your area, commit to 14 consecutive days with shifts of 8 or 12 hours Adaptability and patience to work in a dynamic environment where priorities may change frequently
