Do you enjoy working with children and want to make a difference in just one hour a week?
The Literacy Council of Kingsport is looking for Homework Help Tutors to support K–5th grade students at Girls, Inc. of Kingsport. Volunteers will assist children with homework in a variety of subjects in a structured, after-school setting.
This is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to give back in a fun, low-pressure environment while helping kids succeed in school!
What You’ll Do as a Homework Help Tutor:

Work with elementary students one-on-one or in small groups

Provide help with homework in subjects like reading, writing, and math

Offer encouragement and support to help children stay on track
Time Commitment:

Mondays and/or Thursdays from 5:00–6:00 p.m.

Just one hour per session—volunteers can serve once or twice a week

Ongoing need during the school year
Qualifications:

Comfortable helping with basic K–5th grade homework across subjects

Patience, positivity, and a genuine interest in working with children

Must be willing and able to pass a background check (paid for by the Literacy Council)

Volunteers must be at least 21 years old
Training and Support:
No formal training is required, but volunteers will receive guidance and support from Literacy Council staff and on-site partners at Girls, Inc.
