This year we encourage you to help our community by participating in the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance here at Second Harvest Food Bank. Our AmeriCorps team will be hosting a day of service by inviting members of the community to volunteer with us on 9/11 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, as well as hosting a workshop and volunteer day the weekend following on 9/16 from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm. We ask that you bring a thank you card for either the local police department, fire department or EMS Personal in honor of those who lost their lives almost 16 years ago.
Please dress appropriate, as our volunteers will be in the warehouse. Dress should include closed toed shoes.
If you are a local student, please remember that any volunteer hours you serve at Second Harvest will count towards your volunteer service hours needed for scholarships.
On 9/16 volunteers will be asked to participate in a brief workshop, where they will learn about volunteer opportunities as well as hunger in our community and how Second Harvest is involved with the fight against hunger.
