United We're Strong! United Way of Greater Kingsport is launching a new initiative, Community Ambassadors for a Diverse Kingsport. We need volunteers from the Greater Kingsport community to act as "hosts" to people of color and multicultural families that are new and/or incoming residents to the area. In providing this extra layer of hospitality and support, the goal is for newcomers to become engaged and active in our community. Therefore seeing a positive increase in diversity for companies, community organizations, schools, churches and the region!
Requirements: Each participating individual or family will be matched with a "Host". Thats where you come in! The host will help facilitate relationships, connections, and help the participants to get involved in local organizations and community events.
- Hosts will complete DEI training
- Hosts will agree to keep in contact with participants at least once a month via phone call or in person
- Hosts and participants will agree to a quarterly meeting in person
- Hosts and participants will agree to annual gathering Hosted by the United Way
